A group of 40 or so hardy soles showed up for the Canada Donut Ride even though it was threating thunderstorms. While it did rain part way into the ride, we missed it for the most part and only had wet roads for part of the ride. The smaller group today led to a faster pace ride - faster than normal. At one point Lori and Fudge Koffman got annoyed and attacked to get the pace up.

Here is a shot from my Fly6Cam showing the water on the roads at the Keele St. sprint:

I got home to find this rhymne in my inbox which seemed appropriate. Thanks to Steve Svensson from the D'Ornellas Club for sending this off.

It threatened to rain

It threatened a lot

But it didn't rain

Nope, not one drop

The pace line was quick

Up the hill we did fly

Our goal unabated by

Black clouds in the sky

We turned at the top

And back down we came

A gale in our faces

But still no rain

It huffed, it puffed

Like the wolf and the pigs

Heads down we rode

And deep we would dig

The sky ever darker

Menacing towards town

Would we beat the rain

Or would we drown?

Did I say not one drop?

That wasn't quite true

At least one got soaked

That was me, did you?

It came with a warning

A little at first

Shortly thereafter

The clouds did burst

Only blocks from home

Strange relief in the wet

The heat washed away

But not quite home yet

One thing about rain

One thing I forgot

When you go for the brakes

So from me to all of you

I'd just like to say

Be safe on the roads

And happy Canada Day!
